All our pools are carefully chosen for you to ensure you have an amazing time swimming with your baby. The Beehive is a popular Aqualight venue for our younger babies due to the size of the pool.
The pool temperature must be warm for your baby as it helps them to relax in the water. Babies under 6 months of age cannot fully regulate their body temperature and will get cold very quickly in a cool pool. The Beehive is kept at a comfortable temperature of around 32°C-33°C to ensure everyone can concentrate on their swimming.
If this is your first time at The Beehive we recommend reading our pool specific guidelines below, where we walk you through the location and facilities. Everything you need to know from what to bring with you to where to leave your shoes.
Hydropool suitable for newborns
Use the Harborough Road entrance; entry is through the fire door to the left of reception
Space is limited so please put all your belongings in a single bag
Parents will need to bring a change mat to use before and after the lesson.
No pushchairs to be bought inside the building under any circumstances.
One parent only in the pool. However, when baby is exclusively breastfed, we understand it may be necessary for mum to be on poolside. You may be able to observe for a max of 20 mins in the middle of the session, there must be no noise on poolside. You will be allowed in just after the babies have got into the water and must leave before they exit the water. The lifeguard will guide you on this. This is also due to the heat on poolside.
To help get changed after swimming we suggest that you change yourself first, then your baby.
There are NO nappy disposal facilities so please take all nappies home.
Parents will exit the building via the fire exit and the end of the changing room corridor. This leads to the main car park.
